This week it becomes increasingly clear that I’m struggling to balance plot and handicaps. D:
SUNDAY
Stein rises before the sun and takes it upon herself to clean the family home.
She then takes advantage of the remaining dark to scan the skies for evil astronomical happenings. Her brother wanders out as the sky begins to lighten and applies himself to his latest painting; feet still in his bunny slippers.

When the sun has properly risen, Stein returns indoors with a new lifetime dream – to become a creature robot cross breeder. But I know better and the wish is denied. Sorry, Stein, your mum already has that one.

Meanwhile, Sylar and Aiden do some man-to-man bonding… over the chess table.
“Listen, son, I know you’re older now but you stick to your paint and don’t go out chasing girls. Be your own boss, Sylar, you’ll never get to call the shots if you get yourself stuck with a lady. Now, I love your mother dearly, she really changed my life, but son, son, listen… you should be the only one to change your life. OK?”
“Uh… OK, dad, it’s your move. Go on!”
In the evening, Aiden gets another call from his ex-wife and seems quite pleased about it.
It turns out, Hannah has been in touch with Lola too – getting her to perform yet another menial task. When Lola tracks Ms. Jones down to deliver a large load of vegetables it’s clear that neither woman enjoys the other’s company.
MONDAY
Lola manages to keep last night’s unpleasant delivery out of her mind the next day at work and manages to get herself promoted.
At home, Aiden takes his childhood friend, Judd Shepperd’s, hand and drags him eagerly into the house.
“I’m glad you came over, Judd! Come in and see the house. It’s so great we’re in high-school together, huh?”
“So, father, Sylar has brought a stranger into the house – shouldn’t we be concerned by this?”
“Aww, poppet, don’t worry about it. It’s good for you kids to have friends. I’m glad you’re spending some time with your old dad, though.”
“Checkmate!”
“No, sweetie, we’ve only made two moves apiece. Not quite up to checkmate, yet.”
“Good bye.”
TUESDAY
On Tuesday there is much skilling and upgrading.
WEDNESDAY
And the same again on the next day.
There’s also a birthday.
Miss Stein Featherstone grows to be a charismatic young lady. Her clothing choices tend to be daintier and less practical than her mother’s and she decides to grow out her hair.
The senior of the Featherstone women works late into the night to upgrade the household’s appliances (and to master the handiness skill before she reaches elderhood). Lola also completed the Botanical Boss skill challenge but the picture for it seems to have somehow gotten over-ridden.
THURSDAY
Aiden is excited, or perhaps, apprehensive about his sister’s first day of high school. Despite being a genius he doesn’t seem to know what to make of it.
His apprehension is, perhaps, justified.
Their father is promoted but seems to still find something to be miserable about.
Sylar decides not to come straight home after school, he gets off one stop later at the neighbouring mansion.
Marcel Harp welcomes Sylar into his home with a handshake and a prominent nipple that I had not previously noticed on the mesh of the men’s shirt.
Stein has brought home her new friend, Siddhartha, so it’s little wonder that Sylar wants to avoid the crowd in the too small lounge room/kitchen/dining room.
When he does arrive home, Sylar stays outside to work on a portrait of his dear old mum. I think he’ll be redoing this first attempt as she appears to be a little… red.
FRIDAY
The next day, Sylar is painting in a new location.
The Featherstones have a new home! But they don’t seem to notice as I kept much of the original colour-pallet and design in the new build.
Such well behaved kids, they settle right in with no fuss and seem to appreciate the new dining table – no more taking turns at the breakfast bar! Although… it has to be pointed out that Stein is wearing her party frock.
The move does prove too much for some and Aiden grows grey hair… and a moustache!
SATURDAY
Aiden is keen to prove that his is not obsolete and fixes up a shower for Stein’s friend, Siddhartha. Sure this is weird but so is the name Siddhartha.
Everyone is taking advantage of the weekend to be productive. Stein works out in her pretty party frock.
Sylar paints up in his room.
And Aiden cooks for them all.
He takes full advantage of the new, roomier, kitchen and prepares two different dishes.
Thus gaining the love of his children.
Lola isn’t quite as satisfied with the new kitchen, she’s been racing through improvements all over the new house all day. I’m not sure she’s going to make her goal before becoming an elder. Find out in the next installment if Lola breaks the DIY handicap!
