Week Two – Whatever Lola Wants

<<Start at Week 1

I was super keen to write this after such positive comments both here and over on Boolprop. You guys are great! So far Lola has made it through her first week and true to her name (after all, “Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets”) she’s going to make good on some wishes she has towards a certain flame-haired co-worker.

SUNDAY

“Hey Mr. Jones… ah, haha, sure, Aiden. Listen, I’ve got a couple of chores to finish around my… uh, yard but after that I was wondering if you’d mind me coming ’round. You know, to talk about wor– Oh really? Sure, great! I’ll be over after lunch then. See you!”
Excited?
“No. Why would you say that? Excuse me, there’s weeding to be done!”

I’m speechless at the grandeur of Mr. Jones’s house. Lola is speechless because Mr. Jones greets her at the door in his boxers.
“Good to see you, Lola. I was just watching some cooking cable, you know how those lazy Sunday afternoons are.”
“Sure, Mr. Jones. You look… it’s good to see you!”
Lola does not, in fact, know what it is to be lazy on any day of the week and her TV is too cheap to get the fancier channels. I wonder how this guy would fair in the legacy yard. He is clearly rich but I don’t think he lives alone so I doubt he’ll bring too much extra money in, I don’t want to interfere too much in who my sims roll wishes for so if a spouse arrives with more than a few thousand I plan on spending the excess on lobsters and releasing them into local waterways.

Once inside, Lola admires the hipster wallpaper and charms her friend with a few well-timed jokes about work.

Then, with the tension knotting up in her stomach she tries to keep her voice casual.
“So, Mr. Jones – is there a Mrs. Jones I should know about?”
“Oh sure!” Aiden gestures towards the staircase, “Hannah is just upstairs. Did you want to meet her?”
“Your… mother?”
“Wife.”
“Ah.”

Lola covers her disappointment, “So did she buy those bunny slippers for you or did you pick them out for yourself?”

They goof around a little longer but Lola soon finds an excuse to head home and find some solace in her garden.

MONDAY

Lola is up early on Monday morning – reconnecting with her independence. Also the tub needed repairing.

There was even time for a library visit before work. She is the model legacy sim today; I suspect she might be trying to psych herself up to see Mr. Jones at work.

Upon her return from work, and feeling rather strained, Lola plonks herself down to watch a romantic movie on TV. She spends the entire thing jeering at the screen.

She soon gives up on the TV – it has poor reception anyway – and has a lot more fun playing under the sprinkler.

TUESDAY

On Tuesday morning she enjoys the sunrise from her bathtub. It seems to be as good a way as any to wash away any remnants of a less-than-satisfactory weekend.

On the way home from work, Lola’s driver congratulates her – she’s just received another promotion. The poor girl doesn’t seem to be quite as cheerful as I might have hoped.

The garden has expanded and is coming along quite nicely. Lola keeps it well tended and fertilized. She can’t use any of the produce in proper meals yet as she doesn’t have a stove or counter but things could change any day now.

I don’t know why I bothered with a TV; nothing relieves this girl’s stress quite like frolicking under the sprinkler. I wonder if her rich neighbours peek through their curtains at her.

WEDNESDAY

After work on Wednesday, she decides she’d like to have Aiden come over for a visit – he is still her best friend after all. He enthusiastically agrees to hurry over.

I don’t want Lola to be embarrassed in front of her guest – Aiden’s own house was so big – so the money from the previous day’s promotion goes to enclosing a little bathroom. It even has proper walls and flooring, windows and a light – no negative moodlets here!

Aiden arrives and Lola begins her usual comedy routine. I can’t help but notice that Mr. Jones keeps finding excuses to touch her – is she being given the green light?

Lola gathers her confidence, “So, Mr. Jones, it’s getting rather late – is it really wise for you to be driving home now? You… you could stay here for the night? Perhaps? It would be convenient after all… share a carpool to work and… ah… all that.”

“What a kind offer! Sure I’ll stay if it doesn’t put you out. Do you have a place for me to sleep?”

Why yes, she does!

Shyly Lola slips her hand into Aiden’s. In turn, he gives her a little smile and takes her other hand. She blushes, the wish to kiss him has been there since they first geeked out together at work.

But still, he is married. Lola shies away and shows Aiden around before retiring to bed. He’s not the best house guest though, he wakes her up 3 times before I finally put the TV into the family inventory.

But all is not lost!

THURSDAY

Aiden is still there in the morning. He quite happily eats his cereal standing up while Lola uses the facilities.

Another promotion… but perhaps a demotion in attire.

This outfit could really work with a belt over the tweed jacket to cinch in the waist – the silhouette is terrible at the moment – and platforms to offset the cropped pants. Just my thoughts, anyway. Probably not the priority when it comes to geeky work-wear I suppose.

For the rest of the afternoon, Lola keeps herself busy in the garden… and waits.

Mr. Jones lets her know that he’s pleased to see her when he arrives and the sentiment is mutual.

Very mutual. Things progress so quickly from here and it seems that Mrs. Hannah Jones is forgotten by both parties.

Mr. Jones stays another night.

FRIDAY

Lola rushes home after work and slips into something a little fancier than her usual look. Yet another invitation has been extended to and accepted by Mr. Aiden Jones.

He seems quite keen to be on time.

And Lola welcomes him with open arms… and, er, mouth.

Lola offers her romantic interest a massage, moving her lips close to his ear while she rubs his shoulders.

“Does that feel good, darling?”

“Mhmmm.”

“Mr. Jones… Aiden, I’ve been so much happier these past few days and I don’t want you to leave. Things can’t be right between you and Hannah if you’re spending so much time with me.”

“I guess…”

“I think you should break up with her. Be with me. I want children, well, daughters at least and I think I want them with you. Yeah?”

“You’re right, you’re right. I’m done with Hannah. I’ll be with you, Lola.”

Heyo, melodrama. Sorry this week is turning out so… corny.

After that Lola proposed and the two were wed in an extremely private ceremony.

Aiden moved in bringing just $1,688 and leaving Hannah with over $200k. Some divorce settlement. But Lola got an instant promotion into the bargain (I guess because Aiden is her co-worker?) and with the combined funds they could finally have a home. Almost no money left over but at least the new Mr. Featherstone can watch TV even when his wife is asleep.

Aiden Featherstone née Jones holds the dearest ambition to become a Chess Legend. This irks me a little as he is 3 days away from full adulthood and hasn’t accrued a single logic point for himself. And although he’s friendly enough I worry that his tendency to be a couch potato will get in the way of his ultimate goals. He shares his new wife’s frugal habits and was easily impressed by her garden – he’ll be using her fresh vegies when, being a natural cook, he prepares the family meals. Aiden enjoys latin music, key lime pie and the colour blue.

SATURDAY

Aiden and Lola fell into an easy routine the next morning. He made them both waffles for breakfast while she tended her garden out in the still dewy Riverview morning air.

With two people now in the house the toilet was pretty grimy and Aiden broke the already filthy bathtub. He found himself wishing for a maid but that’s just not how we do things around here. I’m playing with the Do-It-Yourself handicap so there won’t be any service sims coming to help out – I suspect I will miss the babysitter the most despite how useless most of those teens are.

The newlyweds seem to be off to a good start, though – working as a team to get the house neat and everything in working order before heading out together for the day (aww).

It may only be a trip to the public library but they’re certainly making the most of it. I’m so glad that Lola decided to become a home wrecker.

So is Lola. My god, stop gazing at your ring finger like an idiot and pick up that third volume in the gardening series! You’re supposed to be the practical independent woman!

They both spent the rest of the day studying – Aiden logic and Lola gardening.

Aiden made them both a meal in the new kitchen while Lola planted some new produce in the garden (she stopped off at the store on her way home and sold everything under very nice in her inventory while picking up some new things to plant). They even managed to eat at the same time like a proper family.

Afterwards they both retired to the bedroom to see about expanding their new little family. Because, whatever Lola wants, Lola gets.

Thanks for reading everyone! Personally I think the best things about the above picture are Aiden’s pink bunny slippers – very suave! This week was a bit bogged down with melodrama and romance – it’s hard not to make it sound so contrived in this sort of format – things move fast when the story of 10 generations has to be told. I loved reading the comments on the last entry so do comment again if you get the urge to. Let me know what you’d like to see more or less of… and whether or not you’re embarrassed by how much you want to know if Aiden and Lola went to sleep to a the tinkling lullaby.

(Yes, I am embarrassed by the fact that I got on the edge of my desk chair while they were under the covers.)

    Another brilliant instalment!

Awesome chapter! I can’t believe a nice girl like Lola turned out to be a home wrecker. I love Aiden’s bunny slippers, reminds me of the big goofy reindeer ones I got my dh one year as a gag gift.

I thought this chapter was sweet, not cheesy! OK, maybe a little cheesy, but there’s nothing wrong with that! ;-) I’ve never looked very closely at Aiden in my Riverview, but wowza! He’s rather good-looking for a Sim!
